Our Crew
The heart of our team is the crew. Our crew works in concert with the pilot to ensure that the balloon flight goes smoothly from start to finish. Some of their duties include helping to set up the basket and envelope for inflation, holding the fans, holding the throat of the envelope open for the air, and holding the crown line at the top to stabilize the balloon as it inflates. Once the pilot fires the hot air into the envelope, the crew helps put weight on the basket to stabilize the balloon.
During the flight, the crew is our eyes on the ground. They search out good landing spots and make the pilot aware of any obstacles on the ground. A good crew can anticipate just enough to be at the ultimate landing spot to assist with the landing (although the pilot can land the balloon without the assistance of the crew).
Once the flight is finished, the crew helps pack everything back up. It's a lot of work, but also a lot of fun!
